The idea for Hill Country Homes, Inc. came into being in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan. A number of homes in our neighborhood were hit hard as Chartiers Creek jumped it's bank that day. As neighbors and local churches responded, we found ourselves removing plaster, flooring, doors, windows, and appliances. One Saturday, as we were reframing the interior of one particular home, I thought to myself, "This is extremely satisfying and rewarding work. Why don't I start a company and do it for a living?" So I did.
In a few short years, Hill Country Homes, Inc. has grown into a company that specializes in buying "Unwanted, Junker Houses" and transforming them into reasonably priced, professionally rehabbed homes. As we sell these houses, we have a mortgage broker on staff who can set up mortgages with aggressive interest rates and we have also been able to offer lease-option (rent-to-own) for individuals looking to improve their credit in order to buy in the future. In addition to our single family dwellings, we also maintain a growing number of multi-unit rental properties. These nicely fixed up rental units may also, from time to time, be available for sale to other investors.
As president of Hill Country Homes, Inc., I have 25 years of experience in the building trades. We also employ a full-time carpenter with 16 years of custom home building experience and a registered electrician, who is also available for hire. We have properties throughout Washington and Southern Allegheny Counties in Pennsylvania.
Our company name is taken from the Biblical reference to the "hill country" inheritance allotted to Caleb, by the Lord, (Joshua, Chapter 14) and reminds us of the hill country here in western Pennsylvania.
